Sandaime J Soul Brothers tops Oricon weekly chart for the first time
On September 7th, Sandaime J Soul Brothers‘ forth single, “FIGHTERS“, was released, and has sold 83,000 copies in its first week, topping the charts for the Oricon Weekly Single Ranking! Sandaime J Soul Brothers had their singles, “Best Friend’s Girl“, “On Your Mark ~Hikari no Kiseki~“, and album, “J Soul Brothers“, take third place in the past. However, this is their first time topping the charts since their debut last November, and they are the first to top the charts among the first and second generation J Soul Brothers. Watarirouka Hashiritai 7 to join VAMPS’ ‘HALLOWEEN PARTY 2011′
On September 12th, one more group was added to VAMPS’ annual event ‘HALLOWEEN PARTY 2011’.
This newly added group is AKB48’s sub-unit Watarirouka Hashiritai 7 and they will be participating for the October 29th performance in Kobe.
Also at this venue, Acid Black Cherry and Nakagawa Shoko will participate as well. The tickets for this event will begin its sales starting on September 24th.

AKB48 to broadcast rock-paper-scissors tournament in Singapore + Thailand
Many already know that AKB48 will be holding their highly-anticipated ‘AKB48 24th Single Senbatsu Janken Taikai‘ on September 20th at Nippon Budoukan, but now Singaporean and Thai fans won’t have to miss out on all the fun!
The group’s tournament will be broadcast live in 98 theaters across Korea, Taiwan, and Taipei. In addition, Cathay Cineplex Group theaters in Singapore and SF Cinemas Group theaters in Thailand have been added to the list of venues broadcasting the tournament.
All broadcasts will begin at 6:00 PM JST when the curtains open on this event. The cost per ticket will be 2,400 yen, or the corresponding equivalent.
As the new image character for casual apparel brand ‘g.u.‘, AKB48’s Maeda Atsuko appeared in a nationwide CM on September 12th.
This casual CM features Maeda in various outfits from the brand with 667 balloons exploding around her. Set to a funky rock tune, the CM has an edgy vibe without losing Maeda’s cute appeal.

NMB48 to auction a T-shirt featuring autographs of all 44 members!
On September 11th, it was announced that NMB48 will auction off a T-shirt to ‘YOSHIMOTO WONDER CAMP KANSAI’ charity event (from 17th to 19th) featuring all 44-member’s autographs.
This auction will occur on the 17th and the 18th at Yoshimoto Hall in Osaka. This will be their first time to feature a T-shirt with all of their autographs and it will be exhibited in the midst of other auctions from various celebrities.
Team N’s leader Yamamoto Sayaka (18) stated, “All forty-four of us put our feelings and signed this!” and showed her enthusiasm for this upcoming auction. The T-shirts will be available in small, medium, and large in either white or pink. All 6 of these shirts will be exhibited at this charity auction.
GACKT to provide new theme song for the anime, “SKET DANCE”
GACKT’s upcoming song “Graffiti” has just earned a tie-in with the popular anime, “SKET DANCE“!
“Graffiti” – which will be released as a single on November 30th – will be used as the opening theme song for the anime, and is said to be a fast-paced rock tune characteristic of the singer’s sound.
“SKET DANCE” is based on the popular manga of the same name, which is currently serializing in “Weekly Shounen Jump“. The story revolves around Kaimei High School’s campus support club, which goes by the English acronym “SKET”. Although the group was formed “by an act of mercy”, the club sets out to help settle student problems with all the energy they have.
GACKT appears within the anime as the voice actor for Dante, the vocalist of a visual kei band named “JardiN”. “Graffiti” will be his first ever character song.
KAT-TUN will try out the latest things that are in, and depending on how well they perform, might have to endure some punishments in their new TV show, it was revealed on September 8, reports Asahi Shimbun.
Nihon TV’s new show “KAT-TUNの絶対マネたくなるTV” starts on October 18, and will centre on the KAT-TUN members as they try out things that in fashion along with a guest. There are also entertaining punishment games being planned.
It has been reported TV producers have said they wanted KAT-TUN to lead the show because they were pop stars making history, and it would be perfect to have them introducing things that would be the next big trend.
This will be the first TV show the group has had since 2010.
Currently, it has been reported the group is being briefed on how the show will run, and there are plans for on-location shoots. “This is our first variety show as a group in a long time. I hope we can make a show where people can have fun watching us have fun, and find out things about us that people never knew existed,” Kazuya Kamenashi said. “It’s our first show in a while, I want to put even more effort into this and make it a place where popular things begin. I want to make it a show that’ll stay in people’s minds rather than break records,” Koki Tanaka said.
NEWS members Tegoshi Yuya and Masuda Takahisa (a.k.a Tegomass) have announced that they will be releasing a new album called “Tegomass no Mahou” on October 19th.This is their third studio album since their debut in 2006. Shirota Yu holds release event for “Setsuna ~a sandglass of fate~”
On September 11th, Shirota Yu held a release event to celebrate the release of his latest single, “Setsuna ~a sandglass of fate~“, at LaQua Garden Stage in Tokyo Dome.The single was written, composed, and arranged by Shirota himself. During the event, he shared his thoughts on producing the song, which holds the themes of ‘passion’ and ‘tragic love’; he also revealed an unknown episode from his musical, “Romeo & Juliet“. In addition, Shirota talked about the song “Love & Peace“, which expresses his feelings for the victims of the Tohoku Earthquake.Shirota held a handshake event with about 700 fans who purchased the single. He politely shook each hand, and spoke a few words to each of the fans.
